Getting leads in network marketing today does not mean buying leads (there are sooooo many reasons not to go this route and it will come up in a future post), and it also does not necessarily mean spending lots of money on PPC or other forms of advertising. I’m a big advocate of PPC especially, but I recommend that you start with that only when you really understand how it works, and you have a little bit of money to spend.

In the meantime, take advantage of all of the effective free MLM lead generation options that you can choose from. And there are hundreds of them! This article lists my favorite three at the moment, and I will be updating it as we go. With all of these methods, you must have three things in place before you even start.

1. Know exactly who your audience is. Is it for your potential customers (so you will create content that relates to a certain product that your MLM offers)? Is it for your MLM prospects (so you will offer some type of MLM training, for example)?

2. Know exactly what keywords you want to include, after having done the appropriate keyword research. For an in-depth look into keyword research, please visit

3. Make sure that your content is addressing a certain problem and offering a solution to that problem. It must be real, and it must be valuable to your audience.

With that said, here are my favorite free MLM lead generation methods.

1. Article marketing. If you do like writing, article marketing may be the perfect match for you. This consists of writing articles that interest your MLM customers, or your MLM prospects and then publishing them on free article directories. Your article should generally be between 400 to 700 words long and it must be targeted towards a keyword (keyword phrase) that you have identified in your keyword research. Include the keyword in the title of your article, include it often in the body of your article (it should be 3% at the most), and use it in the last sentence of the article if possible. Also, include a link from your keyword, if possible, to some relevant content.

Possibly even more important than the article itself is the resource box that you put at the end of the article. This is where you can promote whatever it is that you want to promote and link that back to your salespage, blog, or whatever you want your reader to go. This should be short and compelling, with a definite call to action.

While some recommend using article submitters to submit your article to hundreds of article directories (at a charge), I find that you can get similar results by just submitting your article to three main sites: EzineArticles, GoArticles, and ArticleCity.

Remember that you MUST “spin” your articles if you sumit them to more than one site. Change your article around so that it is at least 30% different than the original. Target the same keywords, but switch your title around as well. There are various free (and paid) spinners on the market, but I find that the article usually don’t make much sense after you spin them, so it takes just as much time to spin them and check them over as to rewrite them completely. But that’s just me.

Finally, I’ve heard time and time again that you don’t really need to be a writer to do article marketing well. While it’s true that you do not need to be an expert, it really, really helps if you like writing, so that you can submit content as often as possible. If you don’t, go the outsourcing route and look for someone to write content for you.

Article marketing serves two main purposes: it esablishes you as an authority or expert if you are consistent with your quality content, and it gets links back to whatever you are trying to promote. If your resource box sends readers back to your own blog or website, it can get ranked very quickly and very highly in the search engines because they see these links as a sort of vote for how good your content is, and they will reward you in your ranking.

2. Video Marketing. This is an extremely effective free MLM lead generation process because video is wildly popular right now. You can betch’ur bottom dollar that your customers and prospects go to YouTube, or any of the other video sites, regularly.

The steps of video marketing are similar to those of article marketing, but it is so much easier and faster to throw up a video which address your target audience than it is to write an article. If you’re putting your video on YouTube, it must be under ten minutes, so if you can regularly take ten minutes out of your day, then you’ve got it made.

Simply record a video with your digital camera or Flip (which is what is usually recommended although I just use my camera), and upload it to whatever site you choose. Make sure that your video content includes your keywords, and, of course, so should your video title, description, and tags. And, make sure you have the link that you want to promote at the top of your description.

If you really want to step up your traffic, submit your video through TubeMogul which will then submit it to all popular video sites at once. Videos are a great way to establish a relationship with your potential customers and prospects. And the more they see of you, the better. If you don’t like doing videos of yourself, you can do a video tutorial which only shows your computer screen

3. Twitter. When I first started learning about Twitter, I hated it. So, I know how you feel if that’s what you are thinking. But, no matter what, you cannot deny the power of Twitter in terms of gaining leads, so get over your dislike or fear or whatever it is, and just get on Twitter. And again, you want to be where your customers and prospects are–and they ARE on Twitter. It’s quick to set up, and, it’s yet another free MLM lead generation method that really works. You can follow my Twitter 101 tutorials if you need help with that.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of free MLM lead generation strategies–just my top 3 so far in the game! To get my personal recommendation with where you should start, and how to start on the right foot, take a look at the MLM Advantage Training. I’ve got a few free MLM lead generation tricks up my sleeve that have really helped to boost my visibility, and I’d love to share them with you!

MLM recruiting online is all the rage in the network marketing industry, and has been for quite a few years now. While you may be relieved to hear that you no longer need to pester your family, friends, plumber, hairdresser, or anyone within three feet to join you in your exciting endeavor, you do need to keep in mind that the rules of successful MLM recruiting online are really no different than what works in the offline world. Here are three Do’s to keep in mind.

1. Be respectful of the people that you meet online. If you don’t know them, behave that way. Do not invade their space. Do not “friend” them on Facebook to then blast them with messages or pitches. Do not assume that they want to hear about what you have to offer. They don’t, and if they did, they would ask you. If you are doing any of these things, you have basically taken the 3-foot rule that you so dreaded and moved it to your online neighborhood. And besides being disrespectful, it won’t work.

2. Set up a place where people can come see (on their own free will!!) what a great opportunity you have to offer. This can be likened to your online office. Offer informative, problem-solving, inspirational, how-to content. . .whatever matches what you’re target market is looking for. The information should be compelling, but not hypey. Include your own story here, and all your contact details. If this is your fist “online office”, I recommend creating it at either HubPages or Wordpress.

3. Use traffic methods to invite interested people (and the key word here is interested) to your online office. The quickest and most effective way to do this is through PPC (pay-per-click) advertising. It does require an investment, but you determine how much that is, so learn some PPC basics, invest whatever you can to start out, and go from there. You can then incorporate other paid and free advertising methods along the way. There are hundreds of traffic generating strategies you can use, but if you want immediate results, start with PPC on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Whatever you do online, whether it’s contributing in forums, training on YouTube, meeting and greeting on Facebook, be respectful of the people you come into contact with. Remember, you will learn as much, if not more, from them as you hope to teach them!

Are you using Wordpress? I myself made the switch from blogger to Wordpress a couple of months ago and have immersed myself in the world of plug-ins. You see, that’s how Wordpress automates many of its functions, so, if you have a Wordpress blog, then make sure you have these plug-ins. They will make your blog more effective on the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) front and just easier to maintain.

It’s hard to define exactly what Wordpress plug-ins are (they sound like little devices that you “plug-in” somewhere), but what they basically do is allow you to customize your blog to work for you the way you want it to. There are hundreds of Wordpress plug-ins and, for the most part, the ones that you claim work best for the functions of your blog will differ from those that are more important on another blog, BUT there are a few that everyone agrees are essential, and here they are. . . .

1. The All In One SEO Pack allows you to tweak your meta titles, descriptions and tags without changing the content of your post. In just a few seconds, you can do all this to optimize your SEO. This Wordpress plugin also protects your blog from violating Google’s Duplicate Content, and it offers many other options that you can try. However, the default options have worked just fine for me.

2. Akismet protects your blog against spam, and you definitely need this!

3. Google Analytics tracks your blog so you know how many visitors you are getting and where they are coming from.

4. Google XML Sitemaps helps Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines index your blog more quickly.

5. Sociable allows you to place buttons at the end of your posts so readers can bookmark and share them with others.

New Wordpress plugins are constantly being developed so this may change in the near future. If you need help setting up your Wordpress blog, switching your Blogger blog to Wordpress, or installing these or any other Wordpress plug-ins, fill in your name on the right and I’ll walk you through it step by step!

This article is a continuation of How To Advertise Your Website with PPC – Part 1. In that article, I just explained exactly what Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is and why you might want to try it.

This article will explain how to sign up with Google Adwords. It’s worth mentioning that you can do PPC on a varitey of search enginges (Yahoo, MSN, 7Search, etc. – there are hundreds more) and the basic principles apply. But Google is a good place to start because it gets the most traffic and it’s very inexpensive to get started ($5.00) compared to some of the others.

For a more visual idea of how to go about this. . .go to my PPC tutorials on YouTube.

So, how do you get started with Google Adwords? It only takes $5.00 and a couple of minutes:

1. First go to www.Adwords.Google.com and click on START NOW.

2. Choose the option that best fits you. If you already have a google account that you use for other services, click on the first option. If you are completely new to all of this, click on the second option.

3. Enter in your email and a password for your account and fill in the security code. If you don’t get the security code the first time, don’t worry. . .it will allow you to re-do it until you get it right.

4. Enter in your time zone. Select the currency that you use. Hit continue.

5. Google will send you an email to the address that you gave them and you will need to open it and click on the link that they provide you in order to activate your account.

6. Once you’ve verified your address, you will be taken to a screen where you click continue.

7. Here is where you create your first campaign. Don’t worry to much about this first ad because creating this ad is just one of the steps you need to go through in order to get your account going and you don’t want to spend to much time with it. In fact, after you create this one, I would suggest that you “pause” it until we get into the lessons about how to write an effective ad.

8. Create a new campaign. Name your campaign with the general subject you will be advertising. Within each campaign, you will have several more specific subjects. So, for example, one of my campaigns is called MLM. All of my ads in this campaign target a specific keyword related to MLM (MLM tips, New MLM, Green MLM, etc).

9. Choose a geographical region that you want to target. You can leave the US/Canada bundle or you can add other countries. Choose your language.

10. Choose manual bidding and put in an amount you want to spend per day. Choose a low amount right now. In the next article, I will show you how you can get a good number of clicks for very little money. I recommend putting $3.00 to $5.00 per day for now. Hit save and continue.

11. Create your (dummie) ad. Write a headline and text to fit what you are advertising. Again, this is just a “fake” ad that we are creating so you can go in later and change or delete it. I will be showing you EXACTLY how to do your ads in the next article. For now, just put in some words that fit. Put in a valid Display URL (this is what people will see in your ad) and then a valid destination URL. I will go into more detail about these in the next article – there is some important info that you need to know before entering these URLs.

12. The keyword box. This requires a lot of information. For now, choose any keyword that is relevant to your business. Just choose one. I will show you how to find effective and inexpensive keywords in the next article.

13. Bid on your keyword. Put in 5 cents (at the most) for now. I will go into detail about this in a future article.

14 Save and continue to billing.

15. Select your billing territory and how you want to pay. I suggest you choose the post-pay billing option. Continue.

16. Yes, I agree. Continue. Enter in your card info and continue. Save and activate.

17. Go back to your first ad and pause it for now. Go back and click on the ad that you have just created. You will see it at the top of the page and you will see that it has a little green dot which says “enabled” next to it. Mover your mouse over that area and you will see a drop-down box. Here you can click “pause” in order to pause this dummie ad. The next article will show you how to create GOOD ads that will get you inexpensive clicks.

How to Advertise Your Website with PPC – Part 1

You can find a ton of information these days on how to advertise your website for free and I’ve talked about some of them in my previous posts. But there is another really effective way to advertise your site and it does cost a little bit of money. For a lot of beginners, it can end up costing a lot of money because they haven’t learned how to do it the right way. This is an introduction in a series of articles which will show you how you can get started the right way with PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising.

Let’s start with a definition: What is pay per click (PPC) advertising?

When you do a search for anything on the internet, be it “fuzzy slippers”, “things to do on a rainy day”, “best pizza in Chicago”. . .whatever it may be. . .you will get pages of results. You may have never noticed it before, but the results you see on the right-hand side of the screen are pay per click advertisements. And if you happen to click on any of those ads, the person who placed the ad will pay a fee to the search engine for having allowed the ad to generate a click and, of course, a possible lead or customer.

What I love about how to advertise your website with Pay Per Click is that. . .

YOU ONLY PAY WHEN YOU GET QUALIFIED AND MEASURABLE RESULTS!

What other types of advertising can promise you that?

But before you go out and jump on the pay per click bandwagon, you need to learn some important things so that you don’t make the common mistake of so many beginners and end up spending more money that you planned.

First of all, I recommend that you get started with google. There are tons of other search engines out there but google is fairly easy to use (if you keep up with all of their rules and restrictions), inexpensive to set up an account with ($5.00), and it gets the most traffic by far compared to the other search engines.

The next thing you need to understand when it comes to how to advertise your website with PPC is the whole concept of keywords. Keywords or keyword phrases are the terms that people are typing in to their search engines (so “fuzzy slippers”, “things to do on a rainy day”, “best pizza in Chicago” in my examples above are all keyword phrases). The reason that you need to understand what these are and how they work is because you will be constructing your ads around these keyword phrases. And the reason you need to construct your ads ads around these phrases is that your ads will then appear when someone types in the keyword phrases that you have targeted.

So, for example. . .let’s say I own a pizzeria in Chicago. I do my keyword research (which I will explain how to do in the next article) and find that 3,600 people per month are searching for “best pizza in Chicago” . . .and, by the way, that number is correct. . .I looked it up. . .

So, my ad should contain that keyword phrase as early on in the ad as possible and should look something like this:

Best Pizza In Chicago
Taste What Everyone is Raving About. . .
www.LaurasPizzeria.com

Now, when someone types in “best pizza in Chicago”, my ad will appear somewhere on the right of the search results.

HOW HIGH it appears on the page all depends on how much you bid for that keyword in comparison to what others are bidding for the same keyword. And this is where things get a little trickier!

So I will leave that for the next article on how to advertise your website with PPC. or you can check out my vidoes on this at www.OnlineBizHelp.info, and, in the meantime, I think I’ll order a pizza!

Contrary to popular belief, setting up your own multi level marketing blog is one of the easiest ways to establish credibility and make yourself approachable in this cold world of online marketing. It’s also one of the least expensive ways that you can bring people into your business as customers or team members – in fact, it can be absolutely free like my blog!

Why would you want your own multi-level marketing blog?

First of all, it’s quick and easy to set up and can immediately establish you as a professional and authority in the industry.

It’s also a great place to refer family members, friends and others that you come across in your offline marketing efforts and that are interested in what you do. Besides being a great reference for people that you have contact with on a regular basis, your blog can actually attract people who you’ve never even met before.

If you already have an established team, you can also use your blog to communicate with them about whatever you feel is important: training calls, product information, new tools that can help them, opinions about news in the industry, etc.

How do you set up your own multi level marketing blog?

The first concept which should be clear in your mind is that you don’t want your blog to be all about your network marketing company and/or the products/services it offers. Instead, you could focus on a theme that your MLM deals with, like health or nutrition, or you can make your blog so that it answers questions and deals with problems in the network marketing industry in general (like this one aims to do).

The reason for this is that, although very few people will be interested in your network marketing company specifically, very many will have concerns about their health or some of the other themes that your company deals with. Or they will be interested in how they too can make an extra income from home. Or how they can start their own business that allows them freedom and flexibility.

Network marketing provides possibilities that people are looking for. . .and you can speak about them in your blog.

Your blog should give your visitors what they are looking for, offer instruction, advice and tips that can help them solve their problems.

Where can you set up your multi level marketing blog?

There are many platforms to choose from. If you are new to blogging, I highly recommend starting with Blogger because not only is it free, but you can actually earn money from the AdSense ads that are automatically placed on your blog. Blogger doesn’t offer all of the features that some of the other blog platforms (like WordPress and SquareSpace for example) do but it’s a great place to start and you can actually export your Blogger blog to another platform later on if you decide that’s the route you want to go. This blog started out on Blogger and I exported it to WordPress later on (which was much easier than I imagined).

So, let’s get started with your Blogger Multi Level Marketing Blog

After you’ve set up your account, the first thing you want to do is post an article that’s somewhere between 400 and 600 words long. You can write about anything at all that is related to the theme of your MLM company or network marketing in general and feel free to include your opinions and recommendations. . .that’s what blogs are all about.

Eventually, you will definitely want to do some keyword research to include popular search terms in your articles.

You can search for terms here https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. This is how your posts can be picked up by the search engines so when people type in certain words, your blog will come up in the results.

How do you know who’s visiting your multi level marketing blog?

One of the main goals of having your own blog is to generate customers and leads for your business so it’s important that you have something incorporated that can capture the contact information of your visitors.

Set up an auto-responder account with AWeber, GetResponse, IContact, Oprius or any of the other services out there and put a form on your blog. I highly recommend Oprius since it’s both an auto-responder and an organizational service all in one. . .I for one need all the organization help I can get. You’ll have to offer something to your visitors in exchange for them giving you a contact name and email address, phone, or whatever other contact details you want. Some examples of things to offer include a free newsletter, a free e-book or free training.

If all of this seems overwhelming, just start with the multi level marketing blog itself and I can teach you the rest later in my free training. Remember that the key to maintaining an effective blog is consistency. Be consistent with your posts and offer original advice and opinions that you’ve accumulated in your network marketing experience. . .and you’re off to a running start!

Network Marketing Forums and How To Benefit from Them

The Internet is amazing and worldwide doesn’t even begin to describe its vastness.

Quite possibly, every piece of information that human beings have ever known will eventually find its way onto the Internet.

Unfortunately, a great deal of wildly inaccurate information and even deliberately misleading information has also found its way onto the Internet.

It’s easy to read network marketing articles at site after site after site, but maybe sooner or later you’d want to ask a question or two, and you’d want someone out there on the Internet to actually answer them. Guess what? You can ask. You can get an answer. You don’t even have to pay for it. How? Easy.

Sign up for one of the Network Marketing Forums.

In case you’re not familiar with them, Network Marketing Forums let their sites’ members post information and discuss whatever interests them, such as network marketing training courses or resources, gurus, lead generation techniques, etc. These forums are essentially public which means that all members can read them and they are generally organized by topic.

Within each broad category, the individual members create the topics. One member starts a ‘thread’ by making a statement, or more often than not, asking a question. Someone else responds to the question, and someone responds to the response, etc. This can go on for page after page.

Network Marketers can get extremely valuable information at network marketing forums.

Keep in mind that you could also read a lot of nonsense.

Remember, EVERYONE has access to the net and many people love forums. Fortunately, most Network Marketing Forums are moderated.

So, the site basically hires a referee to keep members from abusing each other and from spanmming, and depending on the site’s policy, maybe even keep them on a certain topic.

Not surprisingly, Network Marketing Forums are devoted to marketing goods and services over the net. Such forums enable you to interact directly with other Network Marketers, and would-be Network marketers, getting answers to your questions and in turn, perhaps answering some of theirs. Quite possibly, you might even be able to market your network marketing opportunity this way and it’s quite and organic (unforced and unpromotional) way of doing it. You go on the forum and just happen to find out that someone needs what you have, or what you do.

Another benefit of Network Marketing Forums is that they tend to be populated by the same people over and over again.

This means that over time, the regular members get to know each other, and a sense of community grows. This can be a valuable source of moral support for someone trying to market a business or product over the internet. And it definitely builds up trust which is crucial to anyone in business these days, especially on the cold, hard net.

Chances are, even though network marketing over the Internet involves reaching out to potential leads and customers and providing goods or services to your existing team and customers, you can end up feeling isolated if you don’t have the right guidance from your upline or team. It’s good to have an informal environment where you can talk shop with other like-minded individuals.

Got a question about network marketing? Just starting out and have a lot to learn? Or maybe you have a lot of experience and want to share? Try out one of the network marketing forums. They can provide something that may be missing from your business.

Using Network Marketing Articles to Generate Leads

Writing Network Marketing articles is one of the many strategies that can bring you success in network marketing. Thousands of other success-driven people like yourselves have managed to write and publish network marketing articles that bring them leads and prospects. Here are just a few suggestions that can help you master the art of using article marketing as part of your network marketing strategy.

Let me tell a quick story about how I started using articles to break into the Network Marketing world. After the birth of my son, I knew I didn’t want to miss the precious years of his life while I was at work. So, I decided to work from home and try my hand at Network Marketing.

Like thousands of others, I failed miserably at first. After months of training and trying so many products and systems, reading books and watching videos, I sat down and took inventory to figure out what I was really good at.

There are many different methods to succeeding in network marketing online. One key is to pick the one that works well with your personality and try to stick to it consistently. You can do other things along the way, but make sure you never leave out the activities that you like and excel at – as long as they are working of course. Many of my strategies involve writing network marketing articles.

Now what you may not realize is. . . I just revealed one of the keys to successful article marketing. Have you figured it out yet? Sure you have! I told you a true short story.

Your readers and potential leads love stories, especially when they are true. You’re going to have to trust me on this; most folks know when you are stretching the truth. If you are writing an article on a particular product, make sure your story is believable. All you have to do is stick to the truth. In the online world, that sometimes seems hard to do because everything is so hyped up. But telling the truth is actually easier than trying to invent something and your readers / potential leads will appreciate this.

Now let’s look at another fact about using network marketing articles as part of your strategy.

One of the most successful article directories on the web today is EzineArticles.com. Christopher Knight, the owner and prolific article writer of EzineArticles.com, advocates that when you write articles you should keep the articles short and to the point. His suggestion is to keep your articles between a minimum of 250 words to a maximum of 1000 words. Mr. Knight’s reasoning behind this is today’s readers want their information as quickly as they can get it. Frankly, he is absolutely correct.

Just a couple of general words of wisdom, do not write any article without first thinking of the keywords that you want to target. And then, make sure that you submit your article to the sites that are favored by search engines.

One of the easiest to follow written instruction (which is also free) that I’ve come across regarding article marketing is The Bum Marketing Method. It is a very general guide and not specific to network marketing but a great place to start if you are a newcomer and have no money to spend. You also have to opt in – but the information you receive is free, detailed, and pretty straight-forward with some great tips and ways to take action immediately.

There are also many other programs that you can join at a cost which really get into Article Marketing. Renegade Professional definitely offers the most thorough and step-by-step training with step by step video tutorials that you can just follow along with and create your articles. An additional plus is that the course was specifically designed for network marketers!

Can a newcomer to online marketing and/or network marketing still succeed in only with Network Marketing Online strategies?

I’ve heard this question quite a bit lately. Just a few years ago, the concept of taking your Network Marketing business online was still relatively new. The few pioneers who were able to jump in and take advantage of the internet to develop their businesses at that time enjoyed quick and sometimes enormous profits.

Over the years, hordes of both new and experienced network marketers have rushed to get in on the Internet Network Marketing bandwagon to success. Today, it is ever so easy to find valuable training, much of it for free, on the internet. And of course the training is offered by those who have reaped the benefits of being the first to use the internet as a meeting place for those interested in their Network Marketing business.

They will tell you. . . “Learn how I went from being 40,000 dollars in debt to earning 10,000 each month in just 6 months” . Is this hype? Some of it is. But some of these are the true stories coming from a few of the successful online marketers. They are living proof that this has been done.

But. . .

the question remains. . .

Is this success dream still possible today?

A great advantage of Network Marketing Online today is that you do have the opportunity to benefit for the hard-earned experience of VERY successful Online Network Marketers.

When these now-trainers began their online quest, they had NOTHING in comparison to the amount of information that is available today to help network marketers. They struggled through it on their own and figured it out – and now they are saving you the trial and error by offering you their knowledge.

The obvious disadvantage to entering the Network Marketing Online world today is that you are definitely not alone. The word has long been out about making money online and everyone is very into that idea!

So, while it is definitely certain that you can (and should!) learn from these experienced and successful online network marketers, will you yourself be able to do exactly what they did to go from broke to 5 figures a month in just six months? My belief is no, not in today’s online world.

But back to the question. . .Is this type of success still possible today. And my answer is. . .DEFINITELY.

If you keep these things in mind:

1) In order to be successful in today’s Network Marketing Online world, you must brand yourself. Not your company website. Not even your trainer’s website. Your own website. Your own lead capture pages. Your own articles, videos, podcasts, etc.

2) If you are new and not yet able to brand yourself because you don’t really know what you’re doing yet, leveraging off of the experience and web presence of someone who has been successful in network marketing online is definitely a smart move.

3) Along the same lines, while the I believe that the right Automated Lead Generation System (and I stress THE RIGHT) is a must for newcomers to network marketing business online, it must not be the ONLY tool that you rely on.

4) No matter what you read or hear, you cannot rely exclusively on the internet to build your network marketing business in today’s world. No, that doesn’t mean you have to go back to sticking fliers on cars or hitting up all your friends and neighbors. It just means that you will actually need to build relationships offline as well as on. That’s another reason that it is so important to really genuinely love the products/services that you represent.

Building your business takes dedication, commitment, hard work, time and yes, money, although it doesn’t have to be bank-breaking.

I don’t believe that you can rely exclusively on Network Marketing Online to be successful in the industry today. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t work on building your business online – that is also a definite must for success. I just challenge the people out there on the internet who are still saying that Network Marketing can be done exclusively online.
